Telegraphs
The Garage, Glasgow
19th January 2010
With slots supporting bands such as Innerpartysystem and In Case Of Fire, alongside a summer spent playing sets at major festivals around the UK AND a killer debut album under their collective belts, it's safe to say that 2009 was a brilliant year for Brighton based rock outfit, Telegraphs. However, 2010 looks set to be even more rocktastic for this enigmatic band as they kick-start the new decade by supporting Thrice on their five-date UK tour.

The downside of a three-band line-up (the bill was completed by We Are The Ocean) meant that Telegraphs took to the stage a mere fifteen minutes after doors had opened. With people still trickling up the stairs and into the venue, the challenge of drawing them away from the bar and down to the barrier was one that lesser bands may have bolted from. However, with their electrifying live performance, Telegraphs had soon gathered an impressive crowd who quickly understood what all the fuss was really about. Put simply, the band played a solid set of raw, honest and hands down fantastic songs, mixing fan favourites with newer songs that are set to appear on the follow up to their debut album, We Were Ghosts.

Album opener The Argument went down a treat, as did previous single I Don't Navigate by You; a track which sees vocal duty shared by front man Darcy Harrison and bassist Hattie Williams (who brought a touch of class to the evening by decorating her microphone stand with flowers!). By the end of their high-energy set Telegraphs were faced with an impressive and appreciative crowd and the prospect that 2010 might just be their best year yet.
